- • Show personality - humor, passion, authenticity
- • Mention what you're actually looking for
- • Proofread your bio for grammar/spelling
Swiping & Matching
How to Swipe
Swipe Right (Like)
If you're interested in someone, swipe right or click the heart icon.
They won't know you liked them unless they like you back (then it's a match!).
Swipe Left (Pass)
Not interested? Swipe left or click the X icon. They won't be notified.
You can undo a pass if you accidentally swiped left.
🎉 It's a Match!
When you both like each other, you'll get a "It's a Match!" notification. Now you can message each other! Matches appear in your Matches tab.
Viewing Profiles
Each profile shows:
- •Photos and bio
- •Age, location (distance from you), and pronouns
- •What they're looking for (friends, social encounters, etc.)
- •Horror preferences and favorite genres
- •Top 5 favorite horror movies/books/games
- •Shared interests (shown as badges)
Messaging Matches
How to Message
Starting a Conversation
After matching, go to your Matches tab and click on the person's profile. Click "Send Message" to start chatting.
Good First Messages:
- ✓ "Hey! I saw you love The Thing - it's one of my favorites too! What did you think of the ending?"
- ✓ "Your profile mentioned you're into cosmic horror. Have you read any Laird Barron?"
- ✓ "I noticed we both love slasher films! Ever been to a horror convention?"
- ✗ "Hey" (too generic)
- ✗ "You're hot" (inappropriate)
Conversation Tips
- • Ask about their favorite horror titles or recent watches
- • Share your thoughts on shared interests
- • Suggest watching something together (virtual or in-person)
- • Be respectful and genuine
- • Don't be too forward or pushy
Moving to In-Person
Once you've chatted for a while and feel comfortable, suggest meeting up. Popular first meetups: horror movie screening, coffee shop, convention, or haunted attraction. Always meet in public first!
⚠️ Safety First
Always prioritize your safety when meeting someone from online:
- • Meet in a public place for the first time
- • Tell a friend where you're going
- • Don't share personal info (address, workplace) too early
- • Trust your instincts - if something feels off, it probably is
- • Report any suspicious or harassing behavior to our team
